Title: 3 New PDA's From CTIA
Reviewer: Ernest Lilley
Date: 03/24/03
Summary: While I was at CTIA
(see our CTIA coverage) I kept an eye out for cool new handheld computers. Here
are 3 very connected PDAs that I hadn't seen before.
- Hitachi's Pocket PC (CDMA) (press
release) - Built for Sprint, which doesn't have a keyboard email device
yet, it's a full fledged
"Multimedia
Communicator" with Xscale 400MHz processor, full-color TFT screen, integrated
camera, QWERTY keyboard and a replaceable battery. Availability: Q2 2003
-
Blackberry 6210 (GSM/GPRS) (press
release)
- Slimmer, sleeker, and bluer than the current crop of blackberries, the
Java based 6210 supports international roaming, integrated cell phone, and the
ability to read a number of file attachments. Screen and keyboard are backlit
and a headphone jack is included. See carriers for availability.
- Texas
Instruments: WANDA (press
release)
- TI's WANDA is a Pocket PC reference design using TI's new
OMAP1510
processor and it has more ways to connect wirelessly than you can shake a
stick at, including the industry's
first 0.13u Bluetooth single chip solution to integrate digital RF processing
(DRP), TI´s TNETW1100B, an 802.11b MAC/Baseband processor and TI´s TCS2100
GSM/GPRS chipset. Availability: never. It's just a reference design.
