I discovered the Pacsafe CarrySafe 100 camera strap while reading one of the regular emails I receive from Magellan's Catalog. Having purchased a Pacsafe 85L backpack and bag protector for its protective properties in May 2000, I was well aware of the company's fine products.

Reading about the Pacsafe CarrySafe 100 camera strap, I was interested in taking a closer look at one and evaluating it in action.

I don't know about you but whenever I buy a new camera or evaluate one for Tech Revu, I normally leave the provided strap in the box, not because I'm afraid of advertising an expensive camera to sharp-eyed thieves but because I want one of my own choosing with the characteristics I look for.

First of all, I want a camera strap that does not slip. As described on the product page, the "Soft-cushioned breathable neck pad" simply does not slip.

Secondly, I have problems with two deteriorating discs in my neck so I want a camera strap that isn't literally a pain in the neck and I'm still looking for the "perfect" strap. While the Pacsafe CarrySafe 100 strap isn't the answer to my specific needs, it does do a very good job of spreading the weight around (I wish it was twice as wide, but that's just me). Slung over one sloping shoulder, it is actually more secure than the neoprene straps I normally use.

Finally, the Pacsafe CarrySafe 100 strap has one big advantage that no other strap I've ever used has. That big advantage is the slashproof high-tensile stainless steel wire built into the strap.

All in all, the Pacsafe CarrySafe 100 camera strap is a product I'd strongly recommend to any photographer going on a trip where theft-by-slashing is the norm, or just going out with a camera they don't want to lose.
